Draft
Report Card

Twelve of you sat down on September 1st and made 156 decisions. The robot watched every one of them against live half-PPR consensus and then factored in the one house rule half of you forgot: this league has no tight end slot. Fifteen tight ends were drafted anyway. Grades are final. Appeals go to Joey, who drafted two of them.

1st of 12 · Jared · slot 7

Jared walked out with the deepest receiver room in the league: St. Brown, Rice, Waddle, Godwin. Rice at 31 was the pick of the second round and Daniels at 79 was the last elite quarterback anyone got for a discount. Then he spent pick 127 on Isaiah Likely, a tight end, to sit behind four wideouts for one flex spot. Nearly a perfect draft from the guy who also owns the robot. Nobody is suspicious of that at all.

Steal Rashee Rice, pick 31 (consensus 16). Jayden Daniels at 79.
Reach Isaiah Likely, pick 127. A TE stash in a league that doesn't start one.

2nd of 12 · Nicole · slot 1

Nicole took Gibbs first overall and then watched London, Higgins, Egbuka and Harrison Jr. fall a round past their rank and caught every single one of them. That's the good part. The bad part is she left with second-year Jaxson Dart as her only quarterback and no defense at all, which is like buying a beautiful house and forgetting to put a door on it.

Steal Drake London, pick 25 (consensus 13). Tee Higgins at 48 (33).

Olave Garden
3rd of 12 · Ryan · slot 8

JSN and CeeDee in the first two rounds is a real franchise core, and Olave at 32 kept the money coming. The running back room is Skattebo, a rookie named Jadarian Price taken two rounds early, and Corum. Ryan is going to spend every Sunday this fall praying his receivers score twice, because his backs sure as hell won't.

Steal Chris Olave, pick 32 (consensus 22).

4th of 12 · Jarrod · slot 10

Nacua and Jefferson back to back is the best one-two at receiver on any roster, and Jarrod deserves credit for it. Jacobs at 39 was fine on paper. The backs behind him are pure projection, and then he took Tucker Kraft at 82. A tight end. In this league. Three-and-eleven Jarrod had one job in this draft, which was to not do the thing, and he did the thing.

Steal DJ Moore, pick 63 (consensus 48).

5th of 12 · Ben · slot 11

Saquon and Achane at the turn is a monster running back start, and Adams at 62 plus Brian Thomas at 83 were two of the best value picks anyone made. Then Ben took Trey McBride at 35, a top-40 price for a player who can only play flex, followed by a second tight end and a second quarterback. Half his bench is players this league doesn't start. Lead the league in scoring, finish 7-7, draft like this. Consistency.

6th of 12 · Holli · slot 2

Bijan plus A.J. Brown is a clean foundation and Luther Burden at 71 was a genuinely sharp swing. Javonte Williams in the third round is what keeps Holli out of the A range, taken nine spots above where anyone else had him. Behind Bijan the running back depth is faith-based. 7th of 12 · Morgan · slot 9

Pickens at 33 and Metcalf at 88 were real steals and Cook is a fine anchor. But Morgan took Lamar Jackson 16th overall in a one-quarterback league, then took Bo Nix as a second quarterback, then took a tight end. That's three picks lit on fire in a format that pays for exactly none of them. She averaged 128 a week last year and missed the playoffs. This is how.

CMC and Chase Brown is a sturdy backfield, and Mahomes at 126 was the single biggest value of the entire draft, eleven rounds of everyone pretending he retired. But the commissioner, the man who enforces the roster rules, drafted two quarterbacks, two tight ends, and zero kickers. Bowers AND Andrews. Joey wrote the rulebook and then drafted like he'd never read it.

9th of 12 · Chris · slot 4

The talent is real: Taylor, Walker, Nico Collins at 28, Jordan Mason at 93 was tidy. The construction is a crime scene. No kicker. No defense. And the only quarterback on the roster is Kyler Murray, taken at pick 148, which is where you take a quarterback when you've stopped caring. Chris ended last year on eight straight losses and drafted like a man planning to make it sixteen.

10th of 12 · Lauren · slot 12

Zay Flowers at 37 and Xavier Worthy at 133 show Lauren can spot value when she wants to. She just didn't want to early: Hurts at 13 overall as the second quarterback off the board, Hampton at 12 a round early, premium capital spent where this format pays least. Malik Willis is also on the bench, and no one, including Lauren, can explain why. Runner-up last year. This draft says fifth.

Chase at 3 and Nabers is a top-shelf receiver duo, and then Beth's draft drove straight off a cliff: LaPorta, Kyle Pitts, AND Jake Ferguson. Three tight ends. This league has zero tight end slots. 12th of 12 · Ally · slot 5

Josh Allen as the first quarterback off the board: fine. Then a kicker at pick 20 and a defense at pick 29 while Saquon, Jeanty and Nico Collins were sitting right there. Then a second kicker at 149. Then two tight ends. Then a wide receiver who is not currently on an NFL roster. McMillan at 44 was legitimately good, which is the most frustrating part: Ally can do this, she just chose not to for about ten rounds.

Superlatives

Biggest steal

Patrick Mahomes at pick 126, to Joey. Eleven rounds of everyone pretending he doesn't exist.

Special teams captain

Ally: a kicker at 20, a defense at 29, and a second kicker at 149. Field position will not be the problem. Everything else will.

TE University

Fifteen tight ends drafted league-wide. Number of tight end slots in this league: zero. Beth accounts for three by herself.

The homework award

Nicole and Chris left without a defense. Joey and Chris left without a kicker. Chris left without both, and without a real quarterback. See you on waivers.
